Year #3!
Year #3 is going well for Kayla!
Kayla is working hard at Wake Forest University where she is majoring in Biology and minoring in Chemistry and Creative Writing.
She is still cheering for the Demon Deacons, has become a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated and was recently recognized as a North Carolina AHEC Scholar.
Kayla recently participated in mentored research on the relationship between malaria and the microbiome. This is a picture of her in the lab looking at malaria virus in brain tissue.
After graduation, Kayla will be attending Dental school.

Despite the whirlwind of a pandemic happening during the final semester, Kayla is officially a graduate of Wake Forest University!!!
It's full steam ahead to dental school where there is no doubt Kayla will continue to raise the standard.

Dental School
Kayla has settled in a few hours east of Winston-Salem at the East Carolina University School of Dental Medicine!
Recently, Kayla volunteered at a local elementary school to teach 2nd graders about the importance of proper dental hygiene --- for the teeth that will soon fall out and the teeth that will be with them forever :)
It's so good to see our scholars teaching the next generation!

The white coat is off the hanger and officially on the shoulders of Dr. Kayla Gorham!
Kayla will see her first patient soon and is excited to build trusted relationships with many patients in the years to come.
