SCHOLAR UPDATES

More from 2014 BAC Scholar, Patrick Battle

"Partisan politics aside, it is always wonderful to see a young person get involved in our democracy!"it me. It's easy.

Getting Involved

As a way to get involved in his new college community, Patrick took advantage of the opportunity to get involved with an election in North Carolina's 12th Congressional District.

Patrick helped register voters, canvass neighborhoods and organize events.

For his impressive efforts, Patrick was invited to the US Capitol to witness Congresswoman-Elect Alma Adams be sworn into the 114th United States Congress!

Partisan politics aside, it is always wonderful to see a young person get involved in our democracy!

Great job Patrick!

I am now a rising Junior (Journalism & Mass Comm Major) at North Carolina A&T State University. College has been such a life changing experience so far and Junior year will be the best yet! I will be serving in a leadership role in the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA) and I will also serve as the Junior Class Council's Historian for the 2016-2017 academic year.

Thanks to every supporter of the BAC Scholarship Fund for helping me achieve my goals. Please continue to support this great organization because to support the BAC Scholarship Fund is to support leaders of OUR future!

SENIOR SUMMER

Summer of 2017 was one that I won't soon forget!

I had the honor of being part of the 2017 Cox Institute Management Seminar for College Editors that was held at the University of Georgia. As I am sure you can tell from the photo, I had a great time meeting editors from all over the country but most importantly I learned A LOT!

I am excited to get back to work as the Editor-in-Chief of my university's newspaper and I am forever grateful for the BAC Scholarship and everyone who makes it possible!

Senior year means one thing...

In May of 2018, Patrick graduated from college!

Less than one week after walking across the stage at North Carolina A&T State University, Patrick boarded a flight to Michigan where he began his professional career as the social media manager for NextGen America --- an organization focused on increasing civic engagement among young people!

Congratulations Patrick!
