Senior Summer Internship

Anasya landed an internship this summer with the Children's Defense Fund and was a total rock star!

As an instructor at Peacemakers' Freedom School, Anasya was able to hone her skills as a future educator by teaching both the reading and environmental science curricula for 3rd-8th graders.

Drawn to the opportunity by her love for nontraditional education, Anasya says that it was an amazing experience to contribute to reducing the achievement gap that many students face and to promote reading in a way that was enjoyable for the young scholars.

Graduation's Near!

"Hello Everyone,

I am entering my final year at UNC Chapel Hill! This summer was one filled with great experiences as I had the pleasure of interning at Peacemakers of Rocky Mount where I had the opportunity to facilitate an integrated reading curriculum to a WONDERFUL group of middle school students.

On campus this year, I will begin preparing for the GRE and I am serving within UNC's Center for Student Success & Academic Counseling as a Minority Advisor --- which assists first year minority students in their transition to college life. Off campus, I am working part-time at a local daycare in chapel Hill and have obtained my NC Early Childhood Educator credentials.

Thank you again to all of the supporters. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have you all support me in starting my college journey. Through each of you, I have realized that all of us possess the ability to make a difference in someone's world."
